The second annual survey by K12 has been released and may be downloaded using the link below.
Overview
An increasing number of schools and school districts are adopting online learning as a way to boost graduation rates, address multiple student populations, expand their course catalogs, and personalize learning. To ensure the success of these online programs—whether they are credit recovery programs, individual courses, or full-time online programs—it is important to understand the challenges and obstacles educators may face. This report highlights some of the lessons experienced educators have learned when implementing online programs in K–12 schools.
The study is based on a spring 2013 survey that was sent to district and school-level leaders, specifically targeting superintendents, assistant superintendents, curriculum directors, principals, and teachers who have had experience implementing online learning programs. This year’s research was supplemented with phone interviews with K 12 customers who shared their experiences offering online learning programs.
