ESEA Flexibility Waiver:

The Hawaii State Department of Education (DOE) will be applying for a waiver to the United States Department of Education (USDE) for the ESEA Flexibility Waiver in the fall of 2012. The DOE should be notified shortly thereafter whether the waiver has been granted or denied.  Since notification of the status of the Flexibility Waiver request will not be known until the fall of 2012, the DOE will continue to solicit new SES providers via the Request for Proposals (RFP) process and continue to proceed with SES with its current and newly approved SES providers.  If the waiver is granted, the DOE will offer SES only for those students who have completed the Agreement of Services form. SES will only occur during the 1st semester and will cease by the end of Winter Intersession 2012. If the waiver is not granted, the DOE will continue to offer SES to eligible students for the remainder of the school year.  Once the DOE is notified of the waiver request outcome from the USDE, SES providers will be notified immediately so they can plan accordingly.
