I always try to bring you free or inexpensive business resources in this weekly spot, however once and a while you find something that is just worth the money and Camtasia is one of them.
In a nutshell, Camtasia records your actions on your computer screen and compiles it into an editing suite, allowing you to produce training or product demonstration videos at a fraction of the cost of having them produced professionally.
I don’t know about you, but in this fast paced world I want to be able to watch a video and see all of the salient points quickly without having to necessarily read through articles or specifications. I will do that once I know that the product will deliver what I need! Think of the value of having a demonstration video on your website detailing your services.
In addition to marketing pieces, I use Camtasia for training videos for oaSES and for quick over-views when we launch new features. Camtasia does take a bit of practice but as you would expect, their training videos are excellent and take you through every step of recording and editing your video and audio streams. As well as recording your screen, you can record from Power Point, import video and audio files recorded on other devices, including still shot photographs and compile them into your marketing masterpiece!
When you become proficient you could use the suite to produce training videos for your staff and even to help deliver tutoring.
Advice from someone who knows: Invest in a good microphone otherwise your wonderful video will be ruined by the narrator sounding like they are talking from inside the fridge drinking water and crunching ice cubes and hissing with the cold!
