So the last promotional event of the year and a potentially busy time for tutoring providers! The first report cards should be out and parents everywhere will be beginning to question if some help is required for the children.
But many parents are juggling an expensive time of year, so arranging tutoring may keep getting relegated to the bottom of the list. Campaign organizers would appear to be aware of this potential distraction as December has the shortest list of campaigns and events than any month, with the notable exception of January for much the same reasons!
So any promotional campaign you run during this time of year needs to be carefully thought out and finely honed to make sure you are not wasting your time and marketing dollars.
So, let’s get on with promoting our Tutoring companies. Marketing is a serious matter but make it fun for everyone involved and think how you could use one of the following campaigns to run a promotion for your existing products or perhaps run an open day, workshop or promotional extra to raise general awareness of your business. As I say every month – Customers can come from anywhere!
Now is a good time to consider gift cards or vouchers; if everyone is running around buying gifts for their loved ones they may as well buy them from you, right! Consider offering deep discounts on gift cards, for example, ‘buy 5 hours and get the 6th free’.
If you don’t want to join in with all the normal holiday season promotions consider something a little different such as number 12 in the list. The National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month. With all the festivities looming this is a responsible campaign that can have a positive impact on may lives and you can offer it earlier in the month before things get crazy for the holidays.
Since 1981, December has been designated as National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month as every year peoples’ lives are greatly affected by someone driving under the influence. Over the years groups, such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), have surfaced in order to help educate teens and their parents on how to prevent fatalities due to drunk and/or drugged driving. Even having one drink can impair your ability to drive a car and potentially put you and your passenger(s) as well as other vehicles in danger.
Contact a local chapter of one of the above mentioned organizations to arrange for a speaker or a joint event. You could offer a free testing session for any teenager who attends the event. Advertize with your existing customers and ask them to spread the word.
Talk to your local newspaper to see if they will run a story on your event. As always write yourself a press release and release it online together with taking brochures to the local schools and recreation centers to get the word out there. Don’t forget to check your insurance.
If you don’t like the above idea see if you can create a promotional event from one of the following campaigns, holidays or events.

2. Tolerance Week. December 1st – December 7th.
3. Read a New Book Month.
