On May 15, 2012, the State Board of Education voted unanimously to instruct the Department to not work on the ESEA waiver at this time. Vermont would need to do significant more work on the ESEA waiver in order to have an approvable application. On June 7th, the Brattleboro Reformer reported that U.S Sen. Bernie Sandars met with Education Secretary Arne Duncan, who promised the Vermont Senator that the education department would be willing to talk with the state about making some changes. Read Full Article Here.
