The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) has postponed until the 2014-2015 school year, its request for a flexibility waiver from certain provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education act know as No Child Left Behind.
Upon initial reading of the released documents, although not specifically mentioned, this should certainly mean that SES (Supplemental Education Services Tutoring) will be provided for the 2013-2014 school year in Wyoming.
In a press release WDE states that the waiver timeline is important as rushing to meet the terms of the ESEA flexibility waiver could potentially jeopardize the work done in Wyoming to implement the Wyoming Accountability in Education Act.
As a stop gap a waiver from the Annual Measurable Objectives has been requested for the upcoming school year.
What remains to be seen is the response of the Department of Education to this postponement and if in an attempt to keep to his agenda, Secretary of Edcuation, Arne Duncan will grant the waiver anyway! Stranger things have happened throughout this entire debacle.
